The East Lyme Historical Society was founded in 1897 at a meeting of the Good Government Club of East Lyme and is a 501 (c)(3) and an all volunteer organization. It was formed to increase knowledge and appreciation of the history of East Lyme and its heritage.
Since the founding of the Society many, many people have given of their time and talents to keep the history of the Town alive. If you would like to volunteer some time, there are many different opportunities to help. Each year we have 2 potlucks and an annual meeting where members and friends can gather. We sponsor a Winter Lecture series to learn local history. We have 3 Flea Markets a year which bring vendors from all over the state. We also do programs with the local schools and other activities throughout the year. Our buildings are open for visits during July and August and new docents are always welcome. Contact us at info@eastlymehistoricalsociety.org for more information.
